Deck builders in Greenville
For one of the fastest-growing communities in the Fox Cities, west of Appleton.
Greenville had 12,687 residents in 2020, up from 6,844 in 2000, and covers 35.8 square miles west of Appleton. It became a village in 2021. Appleton International Airport is in Greenville, along with Air Wisconsin's headquarters and business parks, but much of the village is subdivisions and open farmland.
What Greenville homeowners want
- First decks on homes built since 2000
- Larger composite decks with room for a table and a grill
- Covered or screened sections on exposed lots
- Stairs and rails from walkout and lookout basements
Building on newer lots
Newer lots usually have backfilled soil around the foundation, which isn't good bearing for footings. Footings need to reach undisturbed soil below the frost line, at least 48 inches under Wisconsin's code. Check subdivision covenants for deck materials and colors, and look at the plat for easements along the back of the lot before you design.
Parks and open space
The village maintains about 210 acres of parkland at 10 facilities, including Community Park and the 39-acre Heath Van Handel Memorial Forest. Homes backing onto open space often want a deck oriented toward the view, with a railing that doesn't block it.
